We are looking for a Project Manager to manage a multi-disciplinary team of professional designers during the construction phase of a major fast tract design / build project located in Doha, Qatar

This challenging project will require a skilled manager experienced in managing and co-ordinating a multi-disciplinary team of designers in addition to being able to apply a commercial overview in the application of the contract. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate an understanding of what is required to work on a major Design & Build project.

Core competencies and skills

1. Manage a multi disciplinary design team based in Doha and liaise with the principle designers and specialist sub-consultants located in the UK and UAE.
2. Work with a core project team, consisting of a commercial and design manager located in the UK, architects and technical engineers located in Doha, to establish the project objectives. Set in place, and manage, the necessary tactics to meet these objectives.
3. Well versed in setting up procedures and ensuring their implementation. Will have the day to day financial control within Halcrow and will be responsible for managing the change control procedures.
4. Manage and implement the multi disciplinary design review of the appointed contractors design development and detailed design packages, liaising with the Client Construction Management Team and appointed Operator.
5. Interface with the designers of the successful contractor and ensure that the flow of any outstanding information required from the principle designers is provided in accordance with the main programme.
6. Manage the process of reviewing the contractors’ submittals, i.e. Shop Drawings, Materials etc., in order to verify compliance with design intent and technical specifications.
7. Interface with the Client, and his representatives, on a regular basis to consolidate the on going project demands, as well as determine potential future needs and changes of the project.
8. Be able to apply the principles of QA/QC to both design and construction processes.
9. Preferably be familiar with Middle East construction practices and how the construction market operates.

In applying these competencies the Project Manager will be able to demonstrate ‘man management’ skills when applied to a multi-cultural resource group. For this reason it would be preferable that the Project Manager has had experience of working overseas, preferably in the Middle East.

It would be anticipated that this individual will be mature and qualified to degree standard. A professional qualification (Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural engineering, MEP, QS or similar) is essential.
